ABOUT
Good friends and Bay Area natives, Angelica "Angel" Vargas and Johnny Granado, hatched the idea to open Mister+Mrs out of a shared love for San Jose’s Japantown, a penchant for artistic expression, and a fondness for all things hair.
With over thirty years of combined professional hair experience, Angel and Johnny have set out to create an unparalleled salon experience by creating a space that transports patrons and provides services to enhance lifestyles. Their business partnership grew organically over the years, taking inspiration from each other, sharing their creativity, and having a firm belief that feeling good should be easy. Together they are making dreams come to fruition and are excited to share with their community.
THE SALON
Located in one of the last three authentic Japantowns in the United States and occupying the space where San Jose Tofu once thrived for several decades, Mister+Mrs is humbled to be part of a truly historic, vibrant, and cultural community.
Designed by San Jose’s emerging artist Ignacio “Notch” Gonzalez—whose stunning bar builds have dazzled customers throughout California and beyond—the salon’s interior offers a unique and dramatic experience that blends epic 1920s California Mayan Revival designs with surreal and tranquil Japanese accents.
This cross-culture dreamscape is a refuge for your authentic self to be lived out and will leave you feeling inspired, rejuvenated, and amplified.
